Overview: Mind Hunter is an American psychological crime thriller TV series based on the 1995 true-crime book "Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit" and was created by Joe Penhall, lasting for two seasons. The main cast consists of two male FBI agents, named, Bill Tench and Holden Ford along with their partner Wendy Carr, the psychologist.
The series involves launching a research project to interview imprisoned serial killers to understand their point of view or psychology, with the hope of finding a pattern in psychological behaviors to solve the ongoing cases in a better way. After much rejection, they started a team containing, Bill, Holden, and psychologist Wendy.
Both seasons contained some triggering content, which can and will leave the audience disturbed to some extent, however, the series withholds some important aspects of crime, which is amusing enough. Both of them, Bill and Holden tries their best to understand the mind of a criminal and how it works or reacts to certain things differently than the mind of normal people. It represented some of the notable serial killers and their psychological patterns when committing crimes.
Character Overview: Bill Tench, a special agent in the FBI's BSU, and partner of Holden, was asked to keep his partner in check and never let him go on research work or missions alone with such heinous serial killers.
Holden Ford, a special agent in the BSU, was an intelligent officer, however, his mental health didn't really sustain his passion. Soon enough he was triggered by the interviews of the serial killers, one playing a major part in it.
Wendy Carr, a psychology professor working towards tenure at Boston University who later joined the team of BSU. She played a major role in decoding the behavioral and psychological patterns of the criminals.
Conclusion:
Mind Hunter, is more of a documentary of serial killer's psychological patterns, thoughts, beliefs, and actions, than a TV series regarding it. It not only enlightens us, about how incredible our human mind might work sometimes for others, even if it for criminals, but also makes us aware to identify any signs of potential criminals or to-be, around us. However, the series is highly triggering to a lot of viewers, so it is recommended to watch it at your own risk, but for people who are into criminal documentaries, this is the perfect watch for them.
