Gilmore Girls: the infamous mother-daughter duo

 

Overview: Gilmore Girls is an American comedy-drama created by Amy Sherman Palladino. It showcases two main characters, a mother and her daughter, Lorelai Gilmore and Rory Gilmore. This show aired from October 5, 2000, till May 15, 2007, lasting seven seasons. 

Gilmore Girls have received love for the astonishing love and bonding between a mother and daughter. The story revolves around a single mom in her 30s, living in a small town, going through hardships, and raising an ambitious daughter, who is nothing less than a best friend to her. However, they both are highly addicted to coffee! As Lorelai once said, "coffee, coffee, coffee."

The duo is seen gossiping and sharing every other aspect of their life together, and as they both grow older, they are seen undergoing some changes, which every audience can relate to. Their humorous and witty character, made everyone fall in love with them. Not being a traditional sitcom comedy, they have their own soothing way of pleasing the eye of the audience, especially the aesthetics of the series, providing comfort and warmth to the audience's eyes.

Character Overview: When it comes to our girls, Lorelai Gilmore, is the headstrong, "i-wish-i-had-a-mother-like-her" mother. She is the most admirable and jolly person anybody would love to befriend. Dreaming of owning an INN of her own with her best friend. She never backed down from her dreams, since she was a little girl of 16, carrying her daughter in her arms. She is also known as the biggest ambassador of coffee, for whom every morning is a 'jumbo-coffee' morning. Her humor is out of the world, and she, no doubt, has an excellent fashion sense. 

When talking about her mother, we have to bring her pampered daughter, who is Lorelai's pride, Rory Gilmore. Hungry for academic validation since she was young, Rory is seen as a motivation and inspiration for a number of academically driven students. Every student felt when Rory said, "Who cares about pretty if I fail my finals?" Her dreams of getting into Harvard and being a reputed journalist were never just a dream for her mother and her. She was never seen without a book in her hand and homework, which sometimes she loved to give herself. However, during the mid-season, there was a huge change in her character, for a brief moment, which disappointed the viewers (for that you have to watch the series). 

The series surrounds the characters in their life, which brings me to mention, Lorelai's parents, Emily and Richard Gilmore, whom Lorelai ignored most of her life until she couldn't and faced challenges on their way to their character development. 

Gilmore Girl's life is incomplete without the mention of some other characters who played major roles in the series, namely, Christopher (Rory's biological father), Luke Danes, Sookie St. James, Michel Gerad, Logan Huntzburger, Kim Lane, Dean Forester and Jess Mariano amongst others. 

Conclusion: Gilmore Girls is highly loved by viewers, who are into wholesome as well as comedy and some witty series. This is one of the favorable options for comfort series, for people who are into softcore comedy without much buzz. Gilmore Girls provides a comforting reality along with some coffee, books, and "oooh food"
