Brooklyn Nine-Nine: duty doesn't always have to be boring

Overview: Brooklyn Nine-Nine, is an American police comedy television series that aired on NBC from September 17, 2013 to September 16, 2021, lasting eight seasons. This show stars characters working in a police precinct, namely, Jake Peralta, Amy Santiago, Rosa Diaz, Gina Linetti, Charles Boyle, Captain Ray Holt, Lieutenant Terry Jeffords, Michael Hitchcock, and Norm Scully.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, showcases police officers and detectives, proving the fact that "duty doesn't always have to be boring". This show is packed with comedy, friendship, and criminal cases, which the officers are seen solving together, in a team, rather than alone. Every character carries different qualities, which eventually turn out to be advantageous.

It showcases the growth of every character, focusing on the point of view of every character and their side. Accepting all flaws, they still choose to work as a team, catching criminals and showing off their signature 'hi-five' every time. Every character introduces an aspect of themselves that serves as the perfect ground for a functioning and balance detective team. Let's not forget the heists prepared every Halloween in the precinct, which just becomes interesting every year with numerous plot twists.

Character Overview: To summarize the characters, Jake Peralta is an amazing start. The clown of the team, however, nobody can think and solve cases like him. He comes off as the biggest jokester until he starts working on a case. And as Jake said "Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. No doubt, no doubt, no doubt, no doubt, no doubt."

When talking about Jake, we have to bring his best friend next, Boyle. He is the golden retriever kind of the group, who believes in cultivating memories with his best bud, Jake, and others. When in doubt about where to eat on your first date, Boyle is your savior. At the same time, he is a brilliant detective.

We can't skip to the next character without mentioning Rosa. The intimidating, black cat kind of the group, whose one stare is enough to scare people away. She's tough, sassy, and hard to be friends with, but at the same time, the kindest person. Her change through the series made the audience love Rosa even more and may I also say Boyle for some time.

Now comes our hardworking officer, Amy Santiago. If someone is seen working even in the weekends, and going through dozens of paperwork with a huge relief on her face, that's Amy. Her love for folders and binders is evergreen. She roots for Captain's appreciation and would do anything for that. No matter how annoying that may seem to be, she's so passionate about her work, that people can't help but love her.

When it comes to the sassiest person, we have Gina, the civilian administrator, who may not be an officer like others but is one of the smartest and sassiest people to exist in the precinct. If you know something, Gina knows it better than you. So as she said "If I die, turn my tweets into a book", we just know that's gonna be a bestseller.

Captain Holt, however, may seem very cold and non-fun, is another funniest characters in the entire precinct. He is a character who broke the stereotype that gay people can also be manly. He knows the strengths of the team and uses them to their best capacity, which enhances their team bonding as well. He may seem dull, but is the most fun person to be with.

When it comes to senior officers, our girl's dad, Lieutenant Terry, is a muscular kind-hearted person, who when it comes to his daughters, becomes the biggest Barbie doll, however, in front of the criminals, his presence is enough for them to give up and surrender. Who wouldn't love Terry? But no one even dares to touch Terry's Yogurt, we have to remember "Terry needs his nutrients."

Last but not least, Hitchcock and Scully, who no matter what just know to eat gross junk food and sulk on their paperwork which they haven't touched in years. They really do grab some attention. However, let's not underestimate their actions during their prime time, their team work is one of the most discussed topics of every precinct.

This series is all about drama, cinematic slow-motion (only when it comes to catching criminals in Peralta way), games, competition, bonding, laughter, and some drinks in the bar to prepare themselves for another adventurous day. This show portrayed cops and detectives in the coolest way possible which makes it even more interesting to watch.

Conclusion: Brooklyn Nine-Nine, is one of the top-rated cop comedy shows, which has received a lot
of love from its existing fans. So if you are a person who loves some thriller comedy, along with a touch of friendship and love, this is the perfect destination for you. NYPD is always at your service, to serve you with some laughter.
